Isn't it fascinating how we combat disease by prescribing what causes it? Radiation for cancer, inoculations and vaccinations for infectious diseases. We cheat death with his own devices.
The port removal was a great success. It hurt, but only in the moment, which is more than I can say for chronic pain. My surgeon was a professorial old black gentleman with massive white sideburns and a striped bowtie. He told the nurse all about the Prince concert he'd just attended. David Bowie's "changes" played on the radio in the background, which I am inclined to take as a good omen despite its ubiquitousness.

Considering the battle you had to trudge through, I think you earned that purple heart.
It took a little while for me to get used to not having a bump under the skin on my chest. The good part was that I didn't have to worry about the fortnightly tape-ripping-off-chest-hair-because-I-forgot-to-shave ritual.
Your view regarding how we deal with diseases is quite interesting. It truly is amusing that we are using what are supposed to be the causes of various diseases as a way for us to combat or even provide treatment to various dangerous illnesses.
I just got my first port removed and a new one put in on the other side because it sunk into my breast tissue. When I saw you on world of jenks I not only look up to you I also identify with you also thank you for sharing your story I don't have cancer but I do have multiple genetic disorders and I get infusions and get chemo.
